Even business travelers to New York City can easily squeeze in pleasure
with business in a fraction of the time it takes to participate in a full
ground-based tour. It is possible to do this with helicopter tours in New
York City.

Helicopter charter companies provide you this wonderful opportunity. A
typical helicopter tour of New York City begins from a heliport on Pier 6
in downtown Manhattan at the East River. Airport transfers from La Guardia
Airport, John F Kennedy International Airport, and Newark Liberty Airport
to the heliport are also available by helicopter.

Airport transfer flight fares are $495 per person per flight. Schedule of
the transfer flights is Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. It
takes about 8 to 12 minutes flight time for the transfer to be completed.
Custom charter flights at other times can also be made available. Three
such sky tours of New York City are on offer from the heliport. You have to
make mandatory online reservations in advance to enable you to participate
in one. A reservation entails a minimum of two persons with total luggage
weight not exceeding 25 pounds on the flight. These tours are available on
weekdays from Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The first of these tours takes you on a 10 to 12 minutes flight by
helicopter. This is to have a view from the sky of the Statue of Liberty,
the Ellis Island and Bridge, and the Governor's Island. Also on the cards
is a sky view of the South Sea Seaport, the Wall Street Financial Center,
and the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. Per person fare for the flight is
$119.

The second of these tours takes you on a 15 to 17 minutes flight by
helicopter. This is to have a view from the sky of the Statue of Liberty
and Ellis Island, the Empire State Building, and Central Park. Also covered
is a sky tour of the Intrepid Air, Sea, and Space Museum. Per person fare
for this flight is $186.

The third of these tours takes you on a 20 to 25 minutes flight by
helicopter of a Grand Tour of New York City's famous attractions. Locations
covered include not only all of the sights on offer through the above two
tours, but also an aerial view of the Yankees Stadium. Moreover, Battery
Park, The Queensboro and Brooklyn Bridges, and the United Nations Building
are also on view from the sky as part of the tour. Per person fare for this
flight is $275.

Provided the minimum number of people required for a viable helicopter tour
is available, on-demand custom chartered flights are also available. This
is to suit the customers' choice of sightseeing locations.

Helicopter tours in New York City are somewhat expensive but they do
provide a bird's eye and breathtaking view of some of the greatest
sightseeing attractions in the world.

New York City is a city of spirit, heart and hard to decide for travel,
even in the face of disaster. Home to such riches as the Statue of Liberty,
5th Avenue boutiques; the famous Broadway stages and the breathtaking Met,
the Empire State Building, Central Park,

New York is one of the best tourist places in the world and in USA as well.
Being the most excellent tourist spot the city New York has top rated
hotels in USA providing range of facilities & various type of hotels,
well-located, the finest amenities & services that make you feel at home
away from home.

In most of the cases specially while traveling to major cities & tourist
places & attractions, the hotels close to New York City and near to any
major & crowed attraction, the more money you can expect to pay to the
hotel. Here you have the option to choose a low cost hotel in New York.
One of the best option to save money is the stay with the hotel little far
from the city like not in any posh area and try if you can manage with 2-3
star rating hotel in New York city. This will just save money for you.

As far as the shopping areas are concern a number of shopping centers you
can find around any hotel you choose to stay in New York, but here again
you can look for the cheap & better shopping places little far from the
hotel.

We should always try to save money in all protocol while traveling to any
city in any country and because sometime New York goes very expensive in
seasons so this would be a good idea to choose the better place to travel
with discounted cost if possible. Instead of paying more money to guide or
travel agent try to use the direct services from the hotel like book your
hotel online and try to contact local person for more information, to find
out the best shopping area, attractions and all you want. Stay in a
comfortable hotel with low cost and for shopping you can choose some less
crowed region, for travel you can select the city bus for New York city
travel, and off course try to keep your money safe although the crime rate
is not high in New York but still when you are saving money this is very
important to keep this safe for future travel or for next visit to New York
City.

and Auguste Bartholdi

That Face, That Face, That Fabulous Face

You hear a lot about artists and their "muses," but we know one Frenchman
who didn't have to go any further than his own backyard to find the
inspiration for one of the greatest monuments in America. No...not Mount
Rushmore! (Although those are some fabulous faces). We're talking about the
Statue of Liberty.

Before coming "home" to America, the colossal head of Lady Liberty was on
display at the Paris Exposition of 1878. Naturally! After all, she was
created by a Frenchman and inspired by French women.

Frederic Auguste Bartholdi, the French sculptor who created the Lady of the
Harbor, modeled his creation on the two favorite women in his life -- his
wife and his mother! Mrs. Bartholdi was "the body" - she probably posed
wrapped in a bed sheet, holding her hairbrush high in the air. But it was
Mama Bartholdi -- Charlotte -- who put a face on Liberty.

Talk about having a "big head!" Lady Liberty's cranium space can
accommodate up to 40 visitors at a time! If he were still alive, Bartholdi
would probably have a "big head," too...thanks to the value placed on the
famous sculptor's autograph.

His signature on a letter discussing his mother and the Statue of Liberty
is sold for more than $3,000.

Let freedom...and cash registers...ring!

Gustav's Grand Tour

When most ladies need a little support, they head for the "unmentionables"
department to find something in their size.

But in 1886, there was a lady who was so well-endowed that a call went out
across France for a man to "engineer" a solution.

The lady? Why the Statue of Liberty, of course!

Created by Frederic Bartholdi and composed of over 8 million pounds of
copper panels, the Statue of Liberty was too flimsy to stand on its own.
(Ooops!) Bartholdi was forced to call upon an engineer to create some kind
of internal support.

The "miracle man" who saved the day did so a little grudgingly as he had
other things on his mind...a "tour" (that's French for "tower") to
commemorate the centennial of French Independence. But he created an iron
skeleton for the statue and reassembled the sculpture in the United States.
Than it was back to Paris to complete his grand "tour" and the Paris
landmark that still bears his name...

Come on. You know what we're talking about. Say it with us. It's Gustav
Eiffel's tower. Or just Eiffel Tower to its friends!

Gustav's work as an engineer did not end with the Eiffel Tower ad the
Statue of Liberty. He designed and built many structures. He was certainly
ahead of his time. He was the first person to propose digging a tunnel
under the English Channel and creating an underground Paris rail system.

Nobody took him up on the offer, so we figure he decided to scrap the idea
and just eat lots of French Fries and French Toast.

Central Station

New York is a veritable jungle of high-power business men, long-legged
models and sky-scraping buildings. If the phrase No such thing as a free
lunch wasn't first coined in New York then it's certainly made itself at
home in this notoriously pricey city since. But visitors who don't arrive
with an Onassis or Rockefeller sized wallet need fear not - here are a few
of the best things to do in New York for free.

New York, New York, a wonderful town - or so the song goes... A town with a
lot of famous sights to see and photograph, and it can be hard to choose
the best things to do in New York, but some of then you can see for nix
which helps! It's hard to know which are the best things to do in New York
- seeing the firework lights of Times Square, the Chrysler Building, with
its entrance hall like a palace, the art deco high-life-New-York-style of
the Empire State Building or Central Park with its two ice rinks, swimming
pool and movie classic carriage rides? And you don't have to start paying
for any of these delights until you want something more than to have a look
around, a picnic and to take some photos.

Seeing the Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick's Cathedral and the Brooklyn
Bridge, and other points on New York's cinemascape skyline are also
labelled some of the best things to do in New York. They may be
architectural celebrity 'B' Listers by best things to do in New York
standards, but they're equally free to have a wander round or on, and
Prospect Park is the pretty, welcoming little sister of Central. But one of
the real stars of New York film and one of the best things to see in New
York is Grand Central Station. One of the best things to do in New York is
to meet under the Tiffany glass clock and absorb the true magic of
travelling to this iconic city by romantic rail... millions of people come
though here each week on some adventure or other, and in the past, and on
the silver screen, the wonderfully vast main hall has nudged lovers and
troops and all sorts along their ways.

If you think one of the best things to do in New York is to get hooked on
this town's history there's no better place to find out about it than the
New York Public Library. Here you've got free and democratic access to
reams of knowledge - both within the 20 million books and online - yes they
even do free internet access. Or for a real life history lesson one of the
best things to do in New York is to turn to the farmers of Union Square
Green Market - an open air farmer's market downtown where around 150
farmers tout their wares - organic breads, cheeses, jams, meat, chocolate,
all destined to be plated up in the city's finest restaurants by the end of
the day - and you'll probably get a few free tasters too.

So as another song goes: it's up to you New York, New York - meaning you
don't HAVE to pay the earth to see some of the best things in New York.

The New York skyline is one of the most recognisable in the world. The view
across the harbour to Manhattan reveals a cityscape bristling with
skyscrapers. From the Statue of Liberty to the legendary spike of the
Empire State Building, New York City's architecture speaks volumes about
its history and personality. Here are five of its most iconic buildings:

The Empire State Building

You can see this big boy from pretty much everywhere in Manhattan (and
beyond). Its location in a relatively low-rise area means that it stands
out like a huge silver needle. The 102-storey art deco giant lies at the
crossroads of Fifth Avenue and West 34th Street and is named in honour of
New York State which is often known as the Empire State. For more than
forty years it was the world's tallest building until the North Tower of
the World Trade centre was finished in 1972. After 9/11 it became New
York's tallest once again.

Named as one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World, the Empire State is
an icon in its own right, and a symbol of the Big Apple. It has appeared in
countless movies, legends and stories, and is a must for visitors to New
York. Word of advice -- make sure you go up one of the city's other
skyscrapers so you don't miss out on the view of Empire State in all its
glory.

The Chrysler Building

Another art deco treat. The Chrysler held the title of New York's highest
building for two years until the Empire State went up in 1931. It towers 77
metres above street level and has over 100,000 square metres of floor
space. The skyscraper is well-known for its curvy metal cladding and steel
spire which echo the design of 1930s Chrysler cars. One of the most unusual
and visually stunning of New York's monoliths, the Chrysler is a little
slice of retro in the centre of the modern city.

The Dakota Building

The Dakota Building has a special place in rock and roll legend. John
Lennon lived there in the late 70s and was assassinated near the entrance
in 1980. His widow Yoko Ono still owns their apartment there. It was also
the setting for Roman Polanski's horror classic Rosemary's Baby.Legend has
it that the building got its name because the West Side of Manhattan was as
sparsely populated during the 1880s as the Dakota states. Further cementing
the Dakota Building's appeal is its unusual architecture. Set among the
staid edifices of the West Side, the Dakota's Germanic gables and
terracotta embellishments make it look like a Bavarian town hall.
Definitely worth a look if you're in the area.

Flatiron Building

This one is a groundbreaker. It was one of the earliest buildings to have a
steel skeleton meaning that it was New York's first skyscraper. Also unique
is the Flatiron's shape. It is, literally, shaped like an iron. Built in
the Beaux-Arts style in 1902 and originally called the Fuller Building, the
Flat Iron sits on a triangular block at the meeting of 23rd Street,
Broadway and Fifth Avenue. Its fame is such that the whole area is known as
the Flatiron district. It's another classic NYC sight, and has been used in
many films and TV shows.

Rockefeller Centre

Famous for its wintertime skating rink in the Lower Plaza, the Rockefeller
Center is a complex of interconnected buildings nestling in downtown
Manhattan. The highest part is 70 stories and has a wide range of fun
hotspots including restaurants and shops. Sometimes called New York's city
within a city, it's home to the NBC and thus the birthplace of shows like
Friends, Scrubs and Seinfeld. Make sure this is part of your New York
experience -- it's a classic.

Under the direction of the famous director Richard Eyre and joint venture
of Disney and Cameron Mackintosh productions 'Marry Poppins' is the hottest
new shows in the block and would definitely will leave its perpetual traces
on one's minds and is likely, to be featured at the New Amsterdam Theater
soon this very year. Buckle up seat belts and get ready to explore a new
world of entertainment. Mary Poppins was initially made into a film with
the same name. Julian Fellow wrote a book on it which is now being
exhibited as a live play. With its special effects, the story does not get
distracted from its original theme and grasps ones attention completely.

This Broadway musical is one of the well-liked plays preferred by most. It
is about the complications and crabbiness which is being faced by every
family when it comes to managing kids. We are introduced to the Banks
family comprising of two children - named Jane and Michael, who have to be
taught the primary lessons of being well-mannered and polite.

Mary Poppins' magical nanny makes her noteworthy arrival within the life of
Banks Family brings a positive change. Their life alters in a better way.
She never openly acknowledges her strange and magical powers, and feigns
insult when one of the children refers to her previous adventures.
Nonetheless, it appears that parents need nanny more than children. Both
Mr. & Mrs. Banks have a different attitude towards life because of
which there lies a verbal gab between them.

Mrs. Winifred Banks - the wife of George Banks and mother of Jane and
Michael, she is a former actress who is struggling to enter her husband's
social circle. The song "Being Mrs. Bank" is sung by his wife throughout
the play through which she wants to express the love towards her husband.
George Banks works at the Bank in the City of London. He has a more
prominent role as a cross man who wants order and largely ignores his
children but later on in the movie his attitude changes.

Although in the books there are five Banks children: Jane, Michael, John,
Barbara and Annabel. But, only Jane and Michael appear in the film and
stage musical.

Bert is one of Mary Poppins' many friends. He normally draws pictures on
the sidewalk with chalk, but when it rains he instead sells matches and
thus, known as the Match-man. He acts as a narrator and close friend of
Mary and the Banks children. Miss Lark and Admiral Boom are the neighbors
to the banks

In December 2004, Mary Poppins: The Musical opened at the Prince Edward
Theater, London, after previewing in Bristol. It received critical
acclamation and was nominated for nine 2005 Olivier Awards. It won two
awards, Best Actress in a Musical, for Laura Michelle Kelly and Best
Theater Choreography for Matthew Bourne and Stephen Mear. The original
music and lyrics are by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman, book by
Julian Fellows and also, a few new songs and additional music and lyrics by
George Stiles and Anthony Drewe.

Outstanding direction and the stunning performances have led the show reach
the point of great success. Indeed, a beguiling story-line it holds!

It features an endowed team having Bob Crowley as the designer, Mathew
Bourne as the choreographer, and George Stiles' music. The team has put in
a lot for the thriving completion of the show. Your attention bound
throughout the show. So hurry up! Buy the tickets before they finish. It is
packed with complete family entertainment.

This Were True

What would it be like if outdoor billboard ads were banned in NYC's Times
Square? To me part of the allure of Times Square is the ads. The
advertising, to me, is like artwork. Not only that, the lights and digital
screens brighten up Times Square to make it almost seem as though it's
daytime, even in the middle of the night.

Would Times Square feel as alive as it does right now if there were
billboards, no advertising, no flashing neon lights, and no television
screens? The reason I ask is that Sao Paulo, Brazil has just recently
banned all outdoor advertising in the city with the aim of bringing it
closer to being a perceived urban ideal. The city government of Sao Paulo
believes that a city without ads is better city.

Do outdoor ads really diminish the value of a city? What if the city has a
bland architecture? Remove the ads and it might make it worse. I was in the
formerly communist East Berlin a few years ago and I remember it being void
of any color. All the buildings looked the same and were a bland color. I
remember thinking that the city could use some bright billboards to liven
it up.

Advertising is a mainstay in business and outdoor advertising is one avenue
of the advertising pipeline. Some people hate ads because they are
constantly inundated by them. Not me. I like ads and I like advertising,
especially outdoor advertising. I shutter to think what Times Square would
like without any ads.

To get the best of your stay in North America, it pays to get North
American tours. Usually, these coach tours visit places that are popular
and interesting. These places are where other people want to be when they
visit North America. So you would definitely be of advantage if you know
the places featured by these coach tours.

Anybody from anywhere can get North America tours. Those who can benefit
from the tour would be the tourists, new residents, immigrants, students,
expatriates, affiliates, or people from offshore companies with
headquarters in North America, and vacationers.

Coach tours are organized and informative tours. They do not only provide
transportation or comfort on tours. But coach tours importantly make you
understand the place better than if you simply visit the places by
yourself. The operators of most North American tours are equipped with
knowledge about the various places. Aside from the fact that they can give
you a glimpse of the place, they can provide information as well. Even if
they seem to miss out some of the facts about the coach tours in North
America, you can always ask questions if you wish. The coach tours are
operated by professional people so you definitely can communicate easily
with them to get enough knowledge that you need.

For further comparison, let's assume that you don't take the coach tours
when you visit North America. You would have to get accommodation and
transportation by yourself. Even with travel brochures and pamphlets, you
would have limited view of the place. Nobody with the right background and
skill would be able to tell about the history of the places you have
visited.

Now assuming you travel with companions who are residents of the place. You
would go to places that are limited only to what your companions know
about. For instance, if your companions haven't been to Washington, D.C.
then you wouldn't see the sights and other interesting places as well. Even
if you did see the capitol, it would just be from afar. Even getting
yourself around the city would require transportation and more expenses,
which would have been easily minimized if you had just gotten on board on
one of the coach tours. Simply put, you would be on your own with limited
resources, limited knowledge, and limited places to travel.

Now back to North American tours, you would get everything that cannot be
provided by just your friends. You would be able to stay in accommodations
that are suited for tourists. These usually are more comfortable than that
of your friends' or relatives' house. Then there is the advantage of the
knowledge of the tour guide about the places on the coach tours. If you are
in New York with coach tours, the guides can tell you more about New York
City, the Statue of Liberty, and other great places in New York.

In other words, the coach tours in North America are intended for people
who want to know the place better. Plus the North American tours are all
designed to get you to places that you normally would not be able to go if
you were with friends and relatives. Coach tours are focused on providing
visitors and new residents experiences of what North American tours are all
about.

New York City is home to some of the best dance studios in the US. Many
national and international dance companies also make regular stops here
while on tour, treating New Yorkers to a wide variety of dance performances
all year round. New York City ballroom dancing comes in an assortment of
styles. The basic forms, such as cha cha, rhumba, tango, swing, foxtrot,
hustle, mambo, waltz, samba, paso doble and quickstep, are highly popular.

Some studios teach specialized techniques such as Palladium Era mambo,
Cuban rhythmic dance, tap, flamenco, Alexander, Afro-Caribbean dance,
jitterbug, lindy hop, American jazz, West Coast swing, Argentine tango,
Texas 2-step, smooth swing lindy, big band, and merengue.

Classes are segmented according to skill. First-timers usually enroll in an
introductory course for a minimal fee. If they decide to take up dancing
more seriously, they move on to the beginner's class which is usually a
six-week course that covers fundamental lead and follow steps, body
techniques, and open and closed patterns of New York City ballroom dancing.

Ballroom dancing classes are a combination of workshop and practice. A
teacher may allot an hour to dance instruction and another hour to practice
sessions. Every week new steps and combination's of figures are taught with
emphasis on good technique and styling.

Intermediate or advanced classes are typically faster and involve more
complex figures and concepts. Here you will learn proper execution of
combination's and sequences, as well as ballroom music interpretation.

Competitive ballroom dancing classes are taught by professional dancers
with extensive dancesport experience. Routines focus on International-style
syllabus figures that demand high levels of strength, stamina and
flexibility.

New York City ballroom dancing studios offer group classes as well as
private lessons. One-on-one sessions enable students to progress at their
own pace and concentrate on specific dances they wish to learn. Persistent
mistakes and bad habits can also be corrected immediately if you have a
private instructor.
